Qua Smith

Qua Smith, 53, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, at Baystate Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Qua was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on March 14, 1972, the beloved daughter of Darren Smith and Brenda Green William. She was educated in the Springfield Public Schools and was a proud graduate of Putnam Vocational High School. Qua went on to earn her degree from Springfield Technical Community College. Dedicated to helping others, Qua worked as a paraprofessional at Chestnut Accelerated Middle School in Springfield, where she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues. Qua's deep faith and love for her family were the cornerstones of her life. She was an active member of her church and drew strength and joy from her relationship with God. She cherished spending time with her loved ones and found happiness in simple pleasures-reading, working out, traveling, and enjoying a good meal out. She had a good personality with informative and beneficial advice she was loved by many and she always had a smile and was in a great mood . She is very loved and missed. She is survived by her two cherished children, Drew Carrington of Austin, Texas, and Natalyia Green of Springfield; her devoted father, Darren Smith, and his wife Myra of Springfield; and her loving mother, Brenda Green Williams, and her husband Clinton of Framingham, Massachusetts. She also leaves her three brothers, Terry Green, Walter Porter III, and Marvin Flye III; her two sisters, Vonetta Lightfoot and her husband James, and Dr. Kelly Smith. Qua will be dearly missed by her three grandchildren-Jrue, Skyler, and Kayomi-who were the light of her life. She is also survived by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA 01118. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery on Bay Street in Springfield. Qua will be remembered for her unwavering faith, kind spirit, and the love she shared so freely with everyone she met. Her legacy of compassion and strength will live on through those who knew and loved her.
