Quang Tran Obituary
Quang Thanh Tran was born on June 18, 1931, in Tra Vinh, Vietnam. He married Muoi Nham at the age of 23, and they have 6 sons and 2 daughters together. Their children’s names in order of oldest to youngest are: Phuoc Thanh Tran, Nga Thi Tuyet Tran, Liem Thanh Tran, Huong ThiTuyet Tran, Le Thanh Tran, Phat Thanh Tran, Dat Thanh Tran, and Cao Thanh Tran. Quang and his wife, Muoi, have a total of 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Quang was the third out of 8 siblings. He joined the Republic of South Vietnam Army when he was 20 years old. In 1964 at 33 years old, he trained in the state of Georgia to eventually earn the rank of Colonel in the Republic of South Vietnam Army. He fought in the Vietnam War along with the Americans against communist North Vietnam. After the Fall of Saigon on April 30, 1975, Quang became a prisoner of war and was sent to “re-education camp” for 5 years. He was finally released at the end of 1980. In 1990, Quang, his wife and four of their children immigrated to the United States and settled in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Quang worked at Valley Packaging from 1991 to 1998. He then worked at Anchor Foods, now known as McCain Foods, from 1998 to 2006 before retiring at 75 years old. In his past time, Quang enjoyed going to the casinos and watching the Green Bay Packers. He also loved to spoil his children and grandchildren with sweet treats, especially chocolates and donuts. Quang was a man of few words and had a heart of gold. He passed away in his home on February 16, 2023. He was truly loved and missed by all.
