Kenneth “Ken” C. Wanek, Sr, age 80, passed away on August 14, 2025, at home, surrounded by his family and their love. He was born on March 20, 1945, to the late Edwin and Sylvia (Kouba) Wanek. Upon graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army and proudly served his country for the next 42 plus years; retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer at the age of 62.
Ken loved playing Sheephead, he fortuitously met Kathleen “Kat” Arthurs at a sheephead game! She asked him out on a date but was shy and ran away. He then called her, and they began dating. It was meant to be as they married on October 4, 2002, and spent the next 21 and a half years sharing laughter, stories, visits to DisneyWorld, sheephead games and so many other things.
Ken is lovingly survived by his wonderful family.
A memorial service for Ken will take place at 11:00am on Wednesday August 27, 2025, at Faith Lutheran Church, 601 E Glendale Ave, Appleton.
