An avid animal lover, Mr. Smith also owned and operated the beloved Thumper Oyster Bar, where many came to hear him sing.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Loretta W. Smith; his daughters, Regina Smith and her partner Chadwick Hartley, and Maria Smith and her spouse Tammy Lovvorn; his granddaughter, Madison Martinez and her spouse Martin Martinez; and his great-granddaughter, Stella Martinez. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim and Billy Smith, and his sister, Mona Smith.
