He married his high school sweetheart, Lenita (Bedelle) Coker and just recently celebrated 55 years together. David was a loving husband, father and friend. David retired about 7 years ago from his partnership Coker James & Company where he worked with amazing colleagues he considers family. During David's retirement he was able to finally focus on his love and talent for making fine furniture. He loved building 17th Century Furniture and found himself amongst kindred spirits within the Society of American Period Furniture Makers (SAPFM). He was known to often share stories of his time in the National Guard, his many friendships he met through church and his love of music. David's instrument of choice was his saxophone which he played from his early years in high school to his recent venture at Carnegie Hall last year with his church orchestra. David was a member of the First Baptist of Woodstock. For many years David taught Sunday School, served as Deacon at his prior church and shared his love and knowledge of the bible and his relationship with Christ.

Thanks David for your generous smile and warm hand shake. It was a pleasure to know you and share those special events while breaking bread at several board meetings. Have a nice flight.

David was a true southern gentleman. He had a great sense of humor, a warm smile and a way of making you feel comfortable and welcoming. He always had a humorous comment to make and he knew how to bring a conversation back to the critical points without offending others. I will miss him and SAPFM and our entire Peachstate SAPFM has lost a great friend.
