Rachel Becklund Obituary

Obituary of Rachel Hope Becklund
Rachel Hope Becklund, Matriarch of the Becklund family, peacefully departed these shores October 6, 2024. She left this world the same way she lived in it – unapologetically and on her own terms.
Born July 18, 1949 to Felix and Doris Banton in Alexandria, Virginia, Hope and her husband of 50 years Bill, spent much of their early life in Northern Virginia, where they raised their two daughters, Kimberly Becklund Edens and Kelley Becklund Rousseau.
As was her want, Hope developed a network of close friends and chosen family there, and through the 80's was widely regarded within their circle as a confidant, a sister, a mother and of course, the hostess with the mostest.
Hope spent 40 years working in the legal banking field and in the mid-1990s, the Becklund's moved to the Alabama Gulf Coast, where they built a beautiful home and life for themselves.
Following her retirement, Hope became the full-time treasurer for the Christian Services Center. But it also provided time for what she and her husband Bill truly loved: travel.
Over the years, the two traveled quite literally across the globe, visiting much of the world and experiencing places and cultures most can only read about. Hope was especially fond of their adventures in Italy and South Africa.
In addition to her husband and daughters, Hope leaves behind two grandsons, William Christopher Edens and Jacob Neal Rousseau, brother Felix and sister-in-law Kathleen Banton, and countless friends. May her memory be a blessing.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Christian Services Center of Gulf Shores, Alabama, St. Jude Hospital in Memphis or to the charity of your choosing.
