A celebration of his life will be held Thursday at 2:30 PM in Pinewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the celebration, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Ryan grew up in Greenville and spent lots of weekends and summers at his family's river house in Bath, NC. He loved to do anything on the water. He enjoyed spending time with his brothers and the multitude of kids that showed up for every birthday and holiday playing whiffle ball, zip lining, slip n slide and card games. He enjoyed waterskiing and wakeboarding and would oftentimes stay in the water until nightfall.
He attended Greenville Montessori School from 3 years old until 6th grade. He attended E.B. Aycock Middle school and J.H. Rose high school in Greenville, NC where he was active in sports. In high school, as a sophomore, Ryan was the starting kicker at the NC State High School Championship football game in 2015. That same school year, he was awarded the Defensive Player of the Year in men's lacrosse. His tremendous work ethic and dedication to practice was reflected in those things he loved.
He was a "beach guy", catching the surf whenever he could. He loved skateboarding and would spend countless hours at the skate park, downtown or on the greenway.He was a lover of music. He wrote dozens of songs, sang, played the guitar and the drums and recorded a couple of his songs in a recording studio. He was known for his free spirit and bright smile that would light up any room. Ryan never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation instantly with everyone he met. He had a compassionate soul and he loved deeply. He had a heart for those in difficult circumstances and would always stop to give some words of encouragement and a few dollars if he had it.
He is survived by his parents, Matthew and Lori Nease, formerly of Greenville currently residing in Beaufort, NC;
