Rae Hong

Rae (Wong) Hong, 88, of Newington, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Kim Hong for 62 years. Rae was born in Boston, MA on March 19, 1937, daughter of the late George and Florence (Chan) Wong. She grew up in the Boston area where she married Kim in 1962. They moved to Connecticut shortly after, finally settling in Newington in 1968. She was a faithful member of Church of the Holy Spirit in Newington, where she was active in the Ladies' Guild. In her free time, she volunteered at her sons' day cares and elementary schools. Rae was also a member of the Early Risers Bowling League. During retirement, Rae and Kim enjoyed traveling the continental U.S. in their RV, traveling to every state besides Hawaii. Most importantly, Rae was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Along with her husband Kim, Rae is survived by her sons Michael Hong and his wife Sally, Timothy Hong and his wife Noelle, and Daniel Hong and his wife Jennifer; grandchildren Bryan Hong, Benjamin Hong, Adele, Emmeline, Jacqueline, and Alexander Hong, Fern Hong, and Cary Wilson; and one great-granddaughter Eleanor Hong-Maywald. She is also survived by her sisters Dottie Dear, and Nellie Chin; brothers-in-law Huey Hong, and Jack Hong and his wife Pyong; and sisters-in-law Kathy Wong, and Shirley Nausieda. Rae was predeceased by her brother Donald Wong; sister Fannie Chung and her husband George; brothers-in-law Arthur Dear, Kam Chin, and Willie Hong; and sister-in-law Ann Hong.
Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service for Rae on Wednesday October 1, 2025 at 12:00 Noon at the CT State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane in Middletown, CT 06457.
