Four Oaks, NC, Mr. Raeford Earl Jernigan, age 78, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehab in Benson, NC, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be 3:00PM-Monday, August 5, 2024 at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson, NC. Rev. Glenn McCullen and Rev. Josh Whitney will officiate. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery Community Mausoleum with Military Honors.
Mr. Jernigan was born on October 26, 1945 in Harnett County, NC to the late Othel and Lou Della Johnson Jernigan. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Linwood Jernigan, and a brother-in-law, Ricky Parker. In his earlier years of life, he worked with Sylvania in Smithfield, NC. Alongside his brother Linwood, he owned The L & R Bar in Benson, NC. He served our country in the US Army, and was a member of Banner Post 109 American Legion in Benson, NC, Vietnam Veterans of Johnston County, NC, and the DAV, where he enjoyed spending time with his fellow Veterans. Raeford loved life, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends, and his daily visits to Pat’s in Benson, NC.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, June Dail Jernigan; daughter, Cindy Dail Jernigan; special nephew, Jamie Lee and wife, Tammie; sisters, Debbie Lee, and Tammy Hall and husband, Frank; sisters-in-law, Brookie Jernigan; Linda Stanley and LaRue Penny; brother-in-law, Gene Parker; nieces and nephews, John E. Hall, Kristie Guy, Amy Lee, Jonathan Hall, Adam Hall, Brandon Hall, Ashley Jernigan, John Ross Lee, and John Michael Hall; great-nieces and nephews, Hunter Joyner, Gracie Hall, Jackson Lee, Aniston Hall, Graham Hall, Leighton Lee, and Liza Lee.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM-Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC, and other times at the home.
The family would like to thank the Durham VA Hospital, and Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehab Center for their loving care shown to Raeford.
