Rafael Temblador, 93, of Rio Rico, Arizona, passed away the morning of December 29, 2024. Born on April 3, 1931, in Los Angeles, California, Rafael lived a full life dedicated to service to his country, community and his family.
He graduated from Lincoln High School in Los Angeles, joining the United States Air Force in 1951 at the outset of the Korean war and proudly served his country for the next 40 years, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant.
On June 19, 1981, he married the love of his life, our Mama Marina Elizabeth Escalante. Together, they built our loving family.
Rafael was a devoted father to his children: Claudia Jalomo, Nancy Escalante and Raphael Temblador. He was a loving Grandpa to Crystal Melara, Cody Jalomo, Cierra Jalomo, Quinnly Melara and a Great Grandpa to Amora Jalomo, Hazel Landeros and Jaziel Melara-Rivera.
Rafael was known for his kind, generous yet fierce spirit. He was a selfless man who always put the needs of others before his own volunteering for years and eventually became a board member to the Crossroads Mission in Nogales. He also had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews, often including them in our family activities, ballgames at Dodger Stadium and family vacations.
His greatest accomplishment was the unwavering respect and admiration he earned from those around him. He was simply a good man.
Rafael will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He enjoyed going on daily morning walks, working around the house, gardening, and spending time with his family
"He would often say to us, 'Oh brother, it'll put hair on your chest, I'm going to paint the town Blue."
A visitation will be held on January 6, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Martinez Funeral Chapels in Nogales, Arizona. Military Honors and burial will be held on January 07, 2025, from 12:00 PM at Southern Arizona Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista, Arizona
