After Raleigh graduated high school from The Westminster Schools, Atlanta GA in 1962, she attended Vanderbilt University where she met her husband, Buck, on a blind date in 1962. Raleigh was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and later became Co-Chairman of the 1984 Eve of Janus and president of the Tri Delta Alumnae Association.

Raleigh was so talented in many ways, especially her culinary skills. She was a cookbook author, managed a successful catering business and was President of National Embroidery Works, Inc.
