Raleigh Ormerod Obituary

Published by Legacy from Mar. 30 to Mar. 31, 2025.
Raleigh Clair Ormerod III passed away peacefully at high noon on March 29, 2025, in his home in Rochester Hills, Michigan, surrounded by loved ones.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Raleigh Clair Ormerod II and Lola Olivia Zelle Ormerod, Raleigh lived a life of intellect, curiosity, and quiet strength. As a young man, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout, a reflection of his dedication and perseverance. He later attended Texas A&M University, where he obtained his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry, laying the foundation for a distinguished career.
Raleigh had a sharp mind and a deep appreciation for technology, science fiction, philosophy, and astronomy. He was endlessly fascinated by the mysteries of the universe and had a love for anything that stimulated the intellect. He worked in the automotive industry for many years and was especially passionate about Camaros, owning several throughout his life-most recently, his beloved 2012 Camaro.
Raleigh was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Fred Ormerod. He is survived by his wife, Carol, and his children: Raleigh Clair Ormerod IV (Dana), Sunnessa Leigh Ormerod, Tiffany Marie (Jason) Hunter, and Laurel Rebecca (Jordan) Christensen. He is also lovingly remembered by his stepdaughters, Bridget (Mike) Smart and Tracy (Geoff) Hegger, as well as his grandchildren: Ethan, Graham, Evelyn, Aiden, Raina, Logan, Charlee, Brooke, Ellis, Jade, Nick, Lauren, Joe, Jack, and Jessica.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date for close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at LLS.org in his honor.
Raleigh will be remembered for his intellect, his dry sense of humor, and his unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved
