Ralph Henry Amato Jr.

Ralph Henry Amato Jr., age 86, of Blue Island, passed from this life on July 29, 2025. Born on September 8, 1938, in Blue Island, IL, he was the beloved son of the late Ralph and the late Angeline Amato.
Ralph was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Sharon Rose Amato, who passed away on April 5, 2025. The couple were united in marriage on Valentine's Day, 1965, and shared 60 loving years together.
Ralph is the beloved father of the late Joni (Wayne) Miller, Shawn (Rose) Amato, and Tina Amato Stover (Floyd). He is a cherished grandfather to 10 grandchildren and a beloved great-grandfather to 7 great-grandchildren. Ralph is the dear brother of the late Patricia, the late Barbara, and Marlene. He also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will continue to honor and remember him.
Ralph was a graduate of Eisenhower High School, where he was an All-State Champion in wrestling and played on the football team. After high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army.
A hardworking and entrepreneurial man, Ralph co-owned a scavenger business in Blue Island with his father. On weekends, he could be found working as a passionate flea market vendor, enjoying the connections and community it brought.
Ralph was known for his easygoing spirit. When time allowed, he found peace in nature-whether hiking, fishing, or camping. At the end of a long day, he often enjoyed relaxing with a glass of wine or a cold beer. His legacy of love, hard work, and simple joys will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. Cremation is private.
