Ralph Benedict

Ralph Benedict, a longtime resident of Fanwood, tragically passed away on November 4, 2025 at the age of 88.
Ralph was born in the Bronx and spent his childhood and the vast majority of his life in Brooklyn, NY before moving to Fanwood to be near his son and his family. He worked for many years as an insurance adjuster for Aetna Life and Casualty
Ralph will be remembered for his deep devotion to his family and his passionate hobby of woodworking: creating wooden toys for his son and for the kids of the chosen extended family he loved so dearly, hand designed arts and crafts projects, and the uncanny ability to replicate whatever he saw out of wood in his very well equipped home workshop.
Ralph was skilled in all areas of home improvement and a DIY expert before anyone knew what that was.
His passion for all things motorized was evident in his professional and personal endeavors as he spent many hours engaged in the world of cars. Always willing and excited to lend a hand to help friends and neighbors with any project that kept him busy and fulfilled.
He is predeceased by his parents, Jack and Beatrice Benedict. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maris; his son, Jason (and his wife, Jen); and his grandson, Logan.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 10am-12pm at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood NJ 07023. A service will begin at 12pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at New Montefiore Cemetery in West Babylon, New York.
