Ralph Wayne "Butch" Denny

 

Mr. Ralph Wayne “Butch” Denny, age 80 of LaFollette passed away Monday, September 4, 2023.  He was a member of New Horizon Baptist Church.  Butch was employed with Woodson Cash Stores for over 34 years, and for 15 years, was employed with Wal-Mart before his retirement.  Singing was a big part of Butch’s life.  He began performing in Church at the age of 12, and was a member of the Glory Land Boys, Gospel Echos, and sang with several other gospel groups and individuals.  Butch also sang on the Cas Walker Farm and Home Hour, where he met Dolly Parton, and the Mull Singing Convention.  Butch was a humble man who loved talking about God  He loved his grandbabies and great-grandbabies, and they affectionalely called him Pap.  Preceded in death by Son, Anthony “Tony” Denny, Parents, Glen Raymond and Mattie Gross Pebley, Grandparents, James H. and Callie Ragle Gross, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Denny.

 

Survivors:  Daughter, Mitzi Garland; Granddaughters, Leah Lynn and husband, Sean, and Elizabeth Miller and husband, Justin; Grandsons, Dakota Goins, and Jordan Denny and wife, Arielle; Great-Grandchildren, Rosie, Caroline, Avett, Braxton, Benjamin, Sissy, Bo, Liam, Ayden, Marlee, and Aaliyah; Sister, Bernettia Spicer; Brother, Marshall Miller.  Several other Relatives and Friends.

 

The family will receive friends Friday, September 8, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home.  A Memorial Service will follow at 7:00 P.M.   The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Butch’s honor: c/o Walters Funeral Home, 509 East Central Ave., LaFollette, TN 37766.  Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette is honored to be serving the family of Mr. Ralph Wayne “Butch” Denny.
