Ralph K. Freid

Ralph Kober Freid of Somerset, New Jersey passed away at home at 89 years-old surrounded by his family on March 2, 2025.
Ralph was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and resided in Somerset, New Jersey for the past 20 years.
He received his bachelor' degree and master's degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) in Atlanta, Georgia. In his spare time, Ralph enjoyed reading, swimming, playing tennis, traveling, attending sporting events, watching movies, and following Georgia Tech's sports teams. He was an avid fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers.
After graduating from Georgia Tech, Ralph was employed as an engineer at, among other businesses, Jonathan Logan and Manhattan Shirt Company.
Surviving Ralph is his wife of 64 years Laura (Seigel) Freid, his son Scott Freid (and his wife Karen), his daughter Jill Goldberg (and her husband Bret), his sister Barbara Gottesman, his cherished grandchildren Tommy (and his fiancé Brittany), Kenny (and his fiancé Rachel), Ilana, and Olivia, and his great-granddaughter Navy.
Ralph had an exceptional ability to make others smile, and his sense of humor and personality will be deeply missed. Among many other things, Ralph will be remembered for his love for whiskey, and of course, reese's peanut butter cups.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, located at 111 N. Gaston Ave., Somerville, New Jersey. Interment will follow at Temple Sholom Cemetery, located at Chimney Rock Rd., Bridgewater, New Jersey.
