Helen M. Freid

Helen M. Freid, age 72, of Channahon, IL passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, surrounded by family.
She was born on January 14, 1952 in Berwyn, IL to Joseph J. and Helen M.A. (nee Henkel) Jablonsky. As the eldest of five children, Helen quickly embraced the importance of family.
Helen was a loving wife, patient, dedicated and caring mother, grandmother, and sibling, as well as a dedicated friend to many. She was an avid animal lover and enjoyed fostering several fur babies over the years.
Helen found great joy in spending time with family and friends. Some of her fondest moments were spending time with loved ones and traveling to many warm destinations including multiple trips to Disney World with her children, grandchildren, sisters, and their families. She delighted in hosting family and friends for parties and holidays. These gatherings were filled with laughter and love and were highly anticipated by all.
She is survived by her son, Jerry McKenzie; her three sisters, Kathleen (Roberta) Evans, Jennifer (Richard) Grabski and Anna (Guy) Stone; and her four grandchildren, Alex and Rebecca McKenzie and Lauren and Ethan Ferrari. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Helen Jablonsky; her husband, Brian Freid; her daughter, Kimberly Ferrari; her brother, Joe Jablonsky and her niece, Taylor Jablonsky.
Memorials may be made in Helen's name to the animal rescue of the donor's choice.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 20, 2024 from 12:00 noon until the time of the Funeral Service at 2:00 pm. Deacon Bill Dunn will officiate. Burial will follow at Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
