Dr. Ralph Edward Hayes Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the age of 76. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Ralph spent his later years in Lowell, Ohio, where he was a cherished member of the community.

Ralph was a devoted pastor of over forty years, having founded and served the last five years or more at Mid-Ohio Valley Deaf Baptist Church until his retirement. Ralph's dedication to his faith and his community left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

He was a man of many interests, including woodworking, flying quad-copters, and photography. Ralph's creativity and love for life were evident in everything he did, and he shared these passions with his family and friends. His legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Emily Caroline Hayes, whom he married on June 5, 1970. He leaves behind his son, Ralph Hayes Jr., and his daughter, Debra Hollingsworth (David). Ralph was a proud grandfather to Brenna Scott (Trevor), Emily Hollingsworth, and Elizabeth Ary (Hunter). He was also blessed with three great-granddaughters, Elliette, Everleigh, and Lottie Scott.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Hayes and Bobbie Jean Hayes. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Linda Lawrence, Brenda Ingle, and Debra Hayes.

A funeral service will be held at the LOWELL CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOMES on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 1:00 pm with Pastor Bob Lizer officiating, followed by a graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Lowell, Ohio, at 2:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation that will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. An interpreter will be present for all services.
