RALPH KASSELMAN

RALPH KASSELMAN AUGUST 18, 1943 - APRIL 5, 2025 Ralph W. "Butch" Kasselman, of Larned, Kansas, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025. He was 81 years old. Butch was born August 18, 1943, to Melvin and Dora (Flanders) Kasselman in Larned, Kansas. He graduated from Zook High School and attended Emporia State University where he earned a Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. Butch worked for the State of Kansas in rehabilitation services for 24 years. In 1991 he changed careers. Moving to Ponca City, Oklahoma, he became a part owner of Ponca Finance Company and enjoyed 20 years with the company before retiring. Butch married Andra Roohms on August 5, 1966. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also collected coins. Spending time with friends and family was important to him. He is survived by his daughter, Gina Smyth, her husband Russell, and grandson Aidan of Larned, Kansas. He also has a brother, Max, of Wichita, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, sisters Ruth Steffen and Linda Parr, and brothers Harlan and Robert. Butch was so kind, helpful, upbeat, and positive. He brightened this world every day. Always there with unwavering support and abundant love, he was the best dad a girl could ever wish for. Aidan was his pride and joy and loved watching him grow up. He enjoyed trips and hunting with him and was the greatest fan at his baseball games. "Grandude" was the best. Butch's wish was that everyone would "Do What's Right". Attitude is everything. The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Minnis Chapel in St. John, Kansas, with Carl Feril presiding.
