Ralph Garnett Kelley Sr.

Ralph Garnett Kelley Sr., age 83, of Covington, passed away due to an unfortunate accident on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.
Mr. Kelley was born on March 14, 1941 in Williamson, WV. He was the son of the late Edward and Velvie Wright Kelley; other than his parents he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Carlos Elwood Kelley.
Mr. Kelley attended Covington High School and Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, he served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962, he retired from Westvaco with forty-one years of service, and served as a volunteer at WECCU (Jackson River Credit Union) for thirty-two years. Ralph was also a member of the Callaghan Ruritan Club and he enjoyed volunteering at local churches as a Sunday school teacher and a song leader.
Ralph enjoyed attending auction sales, flea markets, buying, selling and scrapping; he was a Christian man of many talents and was loved dearly by his family and all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years Una Hubbard Kelley, three children Ralph Kelley, Jr. (Betsey), Angela Shinault (Dale) and Chris Kelley (Beth); six grandchildren Brandon (Heather), Zachary (Jill), Tyler (Bethany), Kursten, Bryce (Josey), Baylie; five great grandchildren, Liza, Nora, Parker, Davis, and Waylon; also surviving are two sisters, Loretta Reed and Janet Campbell; two brothers Edward Kelley and Lloyd Kelley; a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Monday, July 1, 2024 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Brown officiating, assisted by Rev. Curtis Stump.
The interment will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
