Ralph Allen Maas

Funeral Services for Ralph Maas, age 90, of Chambers, Nebraska will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill. Burial will follow in the Chambers Cemetery in Chambers. Rev. Mike Durre will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Tuesday, December 2, 2025 with a 7:00 pm Prayer Service at Biglin's Mortuary. Ralph passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Good Samaritan Society in Atkinson, Nebraska. Memorials may be directed to his family for future designation. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Ralph Allen Maas was born September 6, 1935 in Pierce, Nebraska to Alfred and Lillian (Havel) Maas. Ralph lived with his family in Pierce and was the middle of three children. He attended school at four years old in Pierce then the family moved to Chambers when he was eight years old. Ralph rode his horse to country school before attending school at Chambers High School where he played football and baseball, he was a part of the boy scouts.

He worked many places helping hay. Ralph met Ardell Edwards when she worked at the café in Chambers, Nebraska. They later married in Minnesota after her family moved up there. Ralph and Ardell made their home west of Chambers for a time. To this union four children were born, Karma, Marian, Juanita, and Allen. In 1963 they moved to the current family ranch. Ralph started slowing down in 2008 as Allen took over. Ardell and Ralph took several trips in retirement.

Ralph was a member of Chambers Methodist Church and was a member of the 4-H community and helped with trimming the calves.

He enjoyed playing cards, playing slow pitch softball, going bowling, and riding horses. He also enjoyed duck and chicken hunting. Ralph always enjoyed watching Husker football and volleyball. He also was an umpire for the baseball and softball teams and coached his son's baseball team and won a championship.

Ralph is survived by his children, Karma (Denny) Hogeland of Bridgeport, Nebraska, Juanita Maas of Chambers, Nebraska, Allen (Edie) Maas of Chambers, Nebraska; son-in-law, Alan Wecker of Chambers; seven grandchildren, Kady (Clayton Bolton) Warren, Joshua (Ana) Hogeland, Alison (Ben) Olson, Heather (Jeremy) Ostermeier, Megan Schwalb, Kirsten (Mike) Juarez, Rebecca Maas; 12 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Norman Sellin of Norfolk, Nebraska; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ardell in 2019; daughter, Marian Wecker; sister, Shirley Sellin; infant brother, Gerald Maas.
