June 4, 2023 after an extended illness. He was born May 20, 1937 in Anderson County
to the late Calvin and Mary Mitchell.
R.C., affectionately known as "Snake" because at one time he was very skinny, spent his entire youth in

R.C. was raised to be a God-fearing man who worked hard and supported his family. He never tried to be special for he was a common man with common thoughts. He succeeded greatly at making his family laugh during dark times. He beamed with pride during good times. He provided the needed discipline during bad times. He gave his heart and soul into being a father. Although he was known for being jovial and friendly, he also had a sharp wit and didn't mince words.
Ralph loved gardening, mowing the lawn, watching sports and reruns of the Andy Griffith Show, and playing cards and checkers with his brothers and cousins. He also had a talent for remembering the ages of friends and family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: James Wesley Mitchell, Esther M. Robinson, Phillip L. Mitchell, and Walter R. Mitchell. As a dog lover, R.C. also considered his late dog, Tucker Lee, to be a member of the family.
