Ralph David Rothwell

Ralph David Rothwell, 76, of Damascus, died on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Marilyn Ann Giordano. The couple married on October 10, 1970.

Born on January 4, 1949 in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Ralph Lester Rothwell and Mona (O'Connor) Rothwell. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, stationed on the DMZ in Korea. Later, Ralph worked as a lineworker for the former Bell Atlantic and retired from Verizon. In his retirement, he also drove van for Wayne County Transportation.

A standout baseball player in his youth, Ralph pursued his dream of playing professionally and tried out for several teams. His love for the game was evident, earning him a place in the Belleville High School Hall of Fame-a testament to his exceptional talent and dedication to the sport. However, Ralph's path took a significant turn when he answered the call of duty and joined the US Army.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Dave Rothwell of Fairlawn, NJ, Michael Rothwell of Livingston, NJ and Tim Rothwell of Milanville; his sister, Judy Perez and husband John of Lake Hopatcong, NJ; his aunts, Carol Beck and Patti Spears both of Toms River, NJ; grandchildren, Zach Rothwell and wife Danielle, Alyssa Rothwell and Sam Rothwell.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Jeanette.

As per his request, cremation will be held and there will be no public services. Arrangements by Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale.
