Ralph Thomas Speirs, Jr. went to be with his Savior on Friday, July 18, 2025 in Monroe, Louisiana. He passed peacefully, after a lengthy illness, in the company of both his daughters.
Mr. Speirs was born January 10, 1950 in Delhi, Louisiana to Ralph T. Speirs, Sr. and Katie Ruth Hawsey Speirs. Growing up, his love for hunting and tendency to get “buck fever” earned him the nickname “Buck” at a young age. He also loved duck hunting, dove hunting, and enjoyed watching any wildlife. Ralph encouraged his grandsons and nephews as young hunters, emphasizing safety and sportsmanship. He continued his love of hunting well into his final years.
Ralph distinguished himself as an excellent baseball player in high school and again later at Louisiana Tech where he graduated with a degree in accounting. Ralph began his accounting career at the Monroe Firm of Frazier Thompson Minchew & Robinson, where he met Bishop Johnston, Sr. He then began a long working association with the Johnston family and their businesses until his health interfered with those responsibilities.
Ralph was a frequent visitor to the homes of his daughters Jessica Patton and Amy Reid where he enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and “grand-pets”. He also enjoyed the company of his extended family and looked forward to attending both the Hawsey and Speirs family reunions.
Ralph is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by daughters, Jessica (Harvey) Patton and their children, Sadie, and Ethan (Allie), Amy (Ryan) Reid and their children, Jonah, Ian, Jude, and Micah. He is also survived by his brother Randy (Marcie) and their children Mike (Christina), Tommy (Kelly), and Susan (Brandon) Bruscato; as well as many great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, July 28th, 2025 from 10:00A.M. until Noon at McClendon Baptist Church in West Monroe. The gathering will take place through the Welcome Center and next to the sanctuary. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
