Ralph Edwin Watkins, 93, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Northbrook Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Per his request, private interment will take place at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion, Iowa.
Ralph was born on March 20, 1932, in Atlantic, Iowa, the son of John Edwin and Carrie May (Morris) Watkins. He attended St. Mary’s High School before working as a Heavy Equipment Operator for numerous companies. On October 28, 1950, Ralph married his high school sweetheart, Shirley May Branscomb. He enjoyed everything outdoors, especially camping out west. Ralph will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ralph is survived and lovingly remembered by his children, Randy Watkins, Ann (Rick) Johnson, and Lisa Watkins; grandchildren, Bryan, Carrie Ann, Shane, Dustin, Erick, Nathan (Carissa), Kirsten (Andrew), and Kai; great- grandchildren, Kolson, Tony and, Vincent “Vinny”; and sisters, Eva (Ray) Fortune, and Donna (Carl) Snead.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley Watkins; sons, Robert “Bob” Watkins and James “Jim” Watkins; brother, Bill Watkins.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Northbrook Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for their exceptional care and compassion. We also extend our sincere appreciation to Suncrest Hospice for their kindness and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ralph’s memory may be directed to Cedar Valley Humane Society.
