Ralph Wesley Williams was called home to glory the morning of May 10, 2024 at the age of 81.
He was born March 2, 1943 to Herman and Lillian (Dodge) Williams. He grew up in Pierpont, Ohio along with his older brother and sister. He graduated from the town's high school.
Though a man's life cannot be summed up in a few paragraphs, Ralph's days were filled by love of family, friends, and God. He enjoyed playing many musical instruments (which he learned to play-by-ear), and was known for his beautifully rich singing voice at church.
He met the love of his life, Beverly Jean Ketola, on a blind date arranged by friends. They were married June 6, 1964. They eventually settled in Jefferson, Ohio where they raised their four children.
A diagnosis of cancer in his late 30's challenged him to learn to live as an amputee. Initially thought to be a terminal diagnosis, Ralph became part of a study at the National Institutes of Health where the cancer was successfully removed, and he also contributed to lifesaving medical research.
Through the encouragement and help of his wife and many others, he was blessed by going on to live a full family life, including vacation trips and church activities. Over the years he attended several churches with his family where he formed countless friendships. He especially enjoyed the families' yearly time at Peniel Holiness Campgrounds, where they rented a cabin and attended services.
Ralph retired from his job at the Lubrizol Corporation in Painesville over twenty years ago, allowing him to travel with Beverly and his two sons to many different states and sites throughout the country.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elsie Sharp, brother-in-law Earl Sharp, brother Eugene Williams, and great-niece Justina Williams. He is survived by his beloved wife Beverly, daughter Sharon (Rev. David) Justis, grandson Logan Justis, son Timothy Williams, daughter Rebecca (Charles) Johnson, granddaughter Kirsten Johnson (fiancé Collin Brockmeyer), son David Williams, sister-in-law Barbara (Eugene) Williams, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Though his physical presence will be greatly missed by his loved ones, they may take comfort in the fond memories and love he left, along with the knowledge that he is now present with the Lord.
Funeral services will be held May 16, 2024 (Thursday) at the Fleming & Billman Funeral Home, 49 W. Jefferson Street, Jefferson, Ohio. Visitation at 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at noon that will be delivered by Rev. Doug Williams (Ralph's nephew). Graveside service at Oakdale Cemetery, and a dinner (all welcome to attend) afterward.

Sorry to hear of Uncle Ralph´s passing, but so glad that we know where he is. Growing up as his nephew I will always remember the songs he would sing at family gatherings. He was always good for a few stories or jokes. A highlight of my youth was always going to the camp meetings to spend time with him, Aunt Beverly, and the cousins. I guess the three children are now all together with Grandpa and Grandma Williams again! They sure did wait to all be reunited.
