Ramon Benevidez Jr.

Ramon "Ray" "Uncle JJ" "Uncle Ray J" and even "Uncle Elroy"- to his Cashee, Benevidez Jr., age 48, of Porterville, California, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025, in Paramount, California.

Born and raised in Porterville, Ray was a lifelong resident. He worked as a truck driver for 26 years, logging countless miles, stories, and playlists along the way. Whether he was behind the wheel or at a family gathering, Ray was known for his quick humor, big laugh, and even bigger heart.

He loved fishing, riding his motorcycle, camping, and cheering on his son, nieces, and nephews from the sidelines-usually the loudest one there. Ray had a special way of turning ordinary moments into lasting memories and could make anyone laugh, even when they didn't want to or think it was possible.

Ray is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ysidro "Shorty" Luna and Mercedes "Mercy" Benevidez. He is survived by his parents, Ramon and Margaret Benevidez; his son, Isaiah Renteria; his brothers, Marcos (Crystal) Benevidez and Isaac (Brenna) Benevidez; nieces Alexandra, Myah, and Anabelle; nephews Marcos "Taco," Brian "Bizkit," Javier, and Cash Benevidez; and great-nephews Jayden and Jordan Benevidez, who he absolutely adored. He's also survived by Rafael "Chacho" and Daniel Mireles, whom Ray considered as family.

A Viewing will be held on Monday, October 27th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and Rosary will start at 6:00pm at Myers Chapel in Porterville. A Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28th at St. Anne's Church, followed by a graveside service at Woodville Cemetery. A reception will be held afterward at Myers Reception Hall from 1:00-5:00 p.m., where stories, laughter, and memories will continue-just as Ramon would have wanted.

Ray's family and friends will remember him for his humor, loyalty, and love for life. Though his journey on earth has ended, the stories, laughter, and love he shared will keep rolling on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
