Ramon Castillo Sr. age 90 of Ludington, formerly a longtime resident of Scottville, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024. Ramon was born on September 29, 1934 in Dolores, Texas, the youngest of five children born to Serapio and Felicitas (Arriaga) Castillo. On March 21, 1954, he married Alicia G. Guerrero and they have celebrated 70 years together by each other's side.
Ramon worked over 31 years at Harbison-Walker Refractory in Ludington. He and Alicia raised their 5 children south of Scottville before moving to their current home south of Ludington. Ramon was a gifted mechanic and loved to work on anything with an engine, especially cars. He enjoyed hunting with his family, occasionally fishing the lakes and rivers of Mason County, and was usually found puttering around the house, always finding something to work on.
Along with his wife Alicia, Ramon will be greatly missed by his sons Ramon Jr. and wife Kim of Ludington, Ricardo and Jerry both of Grand Rapids, Edwardo and wife Tammy of Scottville; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ramon was preceded in death by his daughter Esther Castillo; his parents Serapio and Felicitas; 4 siblings, and 4 stepsiblings.
A private family gathering will be held at Wyman Funeral & Cremation Services in Scottville.

Dad Castillo taught me how to eat eggs and chorizo with tortillas, by watching him the first morning I had breakfast there, with Esther, who was my wife until her death.

He was a good family man, a good "Papa" to my kids, always friendly, and called me one of "(his) you boys". He helped me diagnose car problems and we talked on many subjects. I wish I'd been able to see him more often these last few years.
