Ramon Luis Nieves

Ramon L. Nieves, 77, passed away on December 17, 2025. He was born on March 3, 1948, in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, and lived a life defined by devotion to family, a competitive spirit, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that made life meaningful.
Ramon was an avid Boston Red Sox fan whose loyalty never wavered. Known for his competitive nature-especially when playing dominoes-he loved a good challenge and played every game with heart and determination. Those who sat across the table from him knew they were in for both spirited competition and plenty of laughter. Family was the center of Ramon's world. He loved his family dearly and was happiest when surrounded by them. One of his favorite traditions was getting pizza with his daughter from George's in Hartford, moments that reflected how much joy he found in simply being together. Ramon had a very memorable, contagious laugh-one often noted to be just like his sister Haydee's-which filled any room and stayed with you long after. He also truly enjoyed a good meal and never missed the chance to savor one.
Ramon was predeceased by his parents, Petra Rodriguez and Concepción Nieves-Ayala, and by his brother, Juan "Polo" Nieves.
He is survived by his loving children, Sandra Nieves (Andrew) of Indian Orchard, Massachusetts, Ramon L. Nieves and Reinaldo Nieves, both of Hartford, Diane Wood; his sisters Hilda Solano (Paul), Iris Nieves-Cross (Walter), Luz Rivera (Victor), and Haydee Sierra (Raphael); his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Ramon will be remembered for his warmth, his laughter, his love of family, and the lasting impression he left on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Carmon Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private as requested by the family.
