In Loving Memory of Ramon Luis Rivas Ruiz
April 13, 1944 - April 22, 2025
Ramon Luis Rivas Ruiz, 81, of Allentown, PA, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025.
Born on April 13, 1944, in Patillas, Puerto Rico, Ramon was the son of the late Aquedo Rivas and Paulina (Ruiz) Rivas. He brought with him the strength and vibrant spirit of his Puerto Rican roots to everything he did and everyone he encountered.
A man known for his sense of humor and love of storytelling, Ramon was a presence wherever he went. He found peace and happiness in simple pleasures-gardening, bird watching; especially cardinals, baking, cooking, and going for long drives. Whether fishing, enjoying a meal at a local diner, or listening to loud Spanish music, he lived life with passion. He also enjoyed cheering on his favorite baseball team, the Philadelphia Phillies. He was a faithful member of Holy Infancy Catholic Church.
A hard-working and devoted man, Ramon retired from Stanley Vidmar, where he spent many years as a skilled spray painter in production. Later in life, his passion for cooking led him to serve as a short order cook at several beloved local eateries, including the former Anna Maria Restaurant and support staff at the Oasis Diner.
Ramon was preceded in death by the late Juanita Vegas, with whom he shared many years together. He leaves behind a legacy in his children: Tina Kneule, Michelle Anastasi, Maryanne Vegas, Christian Vegas, Nancy Vegas, Eric Scott Vegas, Richard Rivas, Jeannie Ramirez, Raymon Rivas, and Maria Vegas. He is also survived by cherished granddaughter, Tina Ramirez, as well as many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends.
Ramon was preceded in death by six brothers and six sisters, whose memories he carried in his heart always.
A visitation will be held at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018, on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with a service to immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
