Obituary published on Legacy.com by C. C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc. - Newport News on Apr. 17, 2024.
Ms. Ramona Braxton, 67, transitioned to eternal peace on April 13, 2024. Ramona, born on April 9, 1957, in Hampton, VA to Vincent and Vivian L. Braxton (both deceased), was a graduate of The Virginia School for the Deaf, Blind and Multiple-Disabled. After graduating, Ramona went on to live at the Sara Bonwell Hudgens Foundation in Hampton, VA. There, she learned basic life skills and had the opportunity to compete in the U.S. Special Olympics where she earned medals in track & field. More recently, Ramona participated in work and day programs though VersAbility Resources and CNC Serenity.
Ramona was 'differently-enabled', but she exhibited kindness, joy, love, hope, and faith at all times. She enjoyed watching cartoons, solving jigsaw puzzles, and dancing and singing along to Michael Jackson albums. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her siblings and her nieces and nephews.
She was truly a gift from God, and her smile, sense of humor and infectious laugh will truly be missed by many.
Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Vivian L. Braxton; sisters, Yvonne-Braxton-Howard (Floyd) and LaSanya Braxton; two brothers Vincent and Derek Braxton; nephew Dorale Braxton; niece, Janelle Braxton, and aunts Thelma Braxton Holloman (Bill) and
Left to cherish her memories are her sisters, Lisa and Belinda Braxton; brother, Ronnell Braxton; stepmother, Barbara Braxton; special friend, Curtis; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews.
