Randall "Randy" Keith Cathell of Laurel, DE, passed away peacefully in his home on March 7th, 2024.
Born in Frederick County on October 24, 1956. Randy, a native of Powellville, MD, was a dedicated individual with a rich history. He attended Pittsville Elementary and High School, excelling in basketball and various extracurricular activities. Randy furthered his education in auto mechanics at Wicomico County Vo-Tech Center, laying the foundation for a successful career. He commenced his professional journey as an auto mechanic at Pittsville Ford, later diversifying into truck driving for Ocean City Service and heavy equipment operations for esteemed companies such as Trenching By Bud, Stone Tech, and Lewis Enterprises. Randy's commitment extended beyond his career, as he served as a Volunteer Firefighter at Powellville Volunteer Fire Department. His unwavering dedication to his family was unparalleled, evident in his shared passions for camping, boating, hunting, and most of all fishing at Assateague Island with his beloved wife, children and friends. Randy's legacy lives on through his tireless efforts to impart his wisdom to his children, ensuring their success in life. His focus later shifted to his grandchildren, whom he adored and cherished. Nothing made him happier than spoiling his grandbabies. He would do whatever he had to do to keep them happy, from taking them to carnivals or camping trips where some of the best games ever were played. Randy's altruistic nature knew no bounds, always extending a helping hand to those in need without hesitation. He will forever be remembered as a loyal friend, devoted husband, exceptional father, and the most beloved bestest "POP-POP" ever. Randy will be missed greatly, always loved, and never forgotten.
Randy is survived by his wife, Juanita Cathell; brother, Charles and wife Ingrid Cathell; children, Kevin Cathell, Stacey Ellis, David and wife Crystal Cooper; grandchildren, Savannah Cathell, Christine and Caitlin Cooper, Brooklynn Ellis, and Hunter, Caitlin and Landon Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Layla & Avah Downing, and Isabella, Harper & Skylar Reichenberg.
Randy is preceded in death by his mother, Christine Cathell; father, Charles Cathell; and brother, Richard Cathell.
A visitation for family and friends to celebrate Randy's life will take place on March 23, 2024, from 12 – 3 at Powellville Volunteer Fire Dept.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Powellville Volunteer Fire Dept.
