Allen W. Cathell, age 76, of Showell, Maryland, died Tuesday November 12, 2024 at Tidal Health in Salisbury, Maryland. He was born in Showell and was the son of the late James P. Cathell and Loretta E. (Truitt) Cathell.
Allen was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam Veteran serving with the 535th TAS 1967/68 Vung Tau RVN and Headquarters Command Andrews A.F.B. 1961/71 as an aircraft mechanic/flight engineer. He retired from Comcast in 2010 after 29 years in the cable industry. Allen enjoyed camping and fishing on Assateague and spending time with family. He also looked forward to attending yearly reunions with his fellow C7 Caribou buddies.
He is survived by a sister, Louise Lewis of Showell; a niece, Kimberly Lopez and her husband Rob; a nephew, Michael Lewis and his wife Megan; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Drew Lopez, Lindsey Lopez, Ivan Lewis, Noah Lewis, Lillie-Ann Whitten and Ellie-Mai Bratten. He is also survived by his cousins, Rebecca Cathell, Bertha Taylor and Rob Baker.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday November 19, 2024 at 12 noon at the Bishopville Cemetery on Cemetery Road in Bishopville, MD with Rev. Dean Perdue officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Showell United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 55, Showell, Maryland 21862 or Showell Volunteer Fire Department, 11620 Worcester Hwy, Showell, Maryland 21862.
