Randall Lewis Durham, 68, of Newport News, VA, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025.
He was born to Alvin Thomas Durham Sr. and Mary Douglas Durham (née McCoy). He grew up in Millboro, VA, and was a 1974 graduate of Bath County High School. He retired as a pipefitter from Newport News Shipbuilding after over 35 years. Known by most as Randy, he was also known through the shipyard and his hunt club as "Bull".
Randy loved hunting deer and turkey; he was a member of the Independent Hunt Club in West Point, VA, since 2001. He enjoyed playing cards on Friday before hunting, where his prowess earned him a few other nicknames that can't be repeated here. He liked going out to breakfast and yard sales with his wife every Saturday. He was an avid gardener, and every year he planted heirloom beans passed down from his great-grandparents. He participated in the community garden at The Lighthouse Church. He adored his dog, Pepper; his cat, Harley and tolerated his wife's dog, whom he dubbed "Torment." However, he loved being a Pawpaw the "mostest."
Randy was preceded in death by his parents and his little sister, Deborah Lee Durham. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Terri Barnes Durham; four children: son, Taylor Durham & wife, Kelly of Palmyra; daughters, Ashley Barnes of Newport News, Meagan Barnes of Newnan, GA, and Samantha Cline & husband, Corey of Newport News; five grandchildren, Francis Cyphers, Grayson Barnes, Aubrey & Addison Durham, and Thea Cline; brother, Al Durham and wife, Cindy, as well as their daughters, Katie, Erin, & Morganne; uncles and aunts: John McCoy and wife, Judi, Frank McCoy, Florence McCoy and many beloved cousins.
Randy Durham's family has entrusted his final care to Weymouth Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at The Lighthouse Church in Newport News. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Rusty Beck officiating. Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
