Randall Wesley Hyde passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
Randy came into this world with fireworks on July 4th, 1962, in Cleveland, Ohio. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his wife, Joan Atipolo Hyde, and his five children; Randall W. (Kristen) Hyde II, Paulette J., Chelse Mae (Austin Stoudt) Ware, Byron J.R. Ware, and Khloe Atipolo Hyde. He also had four grandchildren: Anastasia, Kaiser, Savannah, and Dakotah.
Randy was predeceased by his beloved parents, Roger L. Hyde and Georgia M. Hyde (née Markos). He was the middle child of five and is survived by his siblings: Roger (Andrea) Hyde, Suzanne Kimberly (Jim) Heiman, Felicia (Frank Kenner) Martinez, and David (Sarah) Hyde.
After graduating from Mayfield High School in 1981, Randy enlisted in the Army and proudly served in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was stationed at Fort Liberty (formerly Ft. Bragg) in North Carolina and deployed to Operation Desert Storm during the Persian Gulf War in 1990-1991. Randy's service also took him to Kuwait and Germany, where he dedicated several years of his life. In 2007, he retired after 26 years of service. Master Sergeant Randall W. Hyde received 14 awards and medals, including the Master Parachutist Badge, Liberation of Kuwait, US Army Commendation Medal, US Service Meritorious Medal, and the National Defense Service Ribbon. He later earned an associate degree from Fayetteville Technical Community College.
Beyond his military career, Randy purchased and managed rental properties. He was skilled in home repair and renovations including roofing, plumbing, and electrical work. In his younger years, he loved fishing, boating, and tinkering. Randy had a passion for all things military, including memorabilia, movies, books, and collectibles. He also enjoyed collecting coins and other interesting artifacts.
Randall Wesley Hyde was laid to rest with military honors on January 24th, 2025, at the Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake, NC. Randy will be greatly missed by his family and friends, and his memory will forever remain in our hearts.
