Randall Lichty Obituary
December 8, 1954 - December 11, 2025
Randall G. "Randy" Lichty, 71, of Waterloo, passed away on December 11, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.
Randy was born on December 8, 1954, in Waterloo, to Quinter and Alice Schroeder Lichty. He graduated from Central High School in 1973 and attended Iowa State University. On November 22, 1975, Randy married Patricia Jo Schmitz at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waterloo.
As a fifth-generation farmer, he owned and operated the family farm Terraview Farms.
Randy was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waterloo. He served as a 4-H leader for 25 years. Randy and Pat were inducted into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame in 2016. He also served many decades as the President of the county Cattlemen's Association, and many years on the Hudson Co-op Board of Directors.
Randy is survived by his wife; children, Tiffany Lichty-Gaffey (Greg) of Ames; Chris of Cedar Falls; Joe of Waterloo; Clark of Chicago; Luke (Brooke) of Waukee; and John (Kayla) of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren: Caleb, Connor, Cohen, Reiley (Sebastian Vargas), Makenna (Seth Dukeshier), Emerson, Jameson, Remi, Charlotte, Conrad, Harper, Hayden, Henley and Huxley; one great grandson, Arlo Vargas; brother, Ron (Marilou); sisters, Patti Bammert, Julie (Carl) Peterson, and Beth (Shawn) O'Rourke; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Matthew, December 4, 1997; and his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with inurnment in Orange Cemetery. Visitation: 3-7 p.m., Monday, December 22, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, all in Waterloo, with a 2:30 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation for one hour before mass at church. The funeral mass will be livestreamed on the church's website and Facebook page.
