Randall Markle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Koch Funeral Home - State College on Sep. 15, 2025.

Randall Emory Markle of Pennsylvania Furnace died at his home on September 8th, the second son of the late Leona B. and David L. Markle, Jr.; he was 77. Randy is survived by his wife, Cynthia Lanager, daughters Lisa Brown (Richard) and Beth Wallace (Michael); stepsons Greg DuBois and Ben DuBois (Abbie), stepdaughter Avonna Poorman and ten grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister, Ruth, and brothers Richard, Ronald and Robert.

A 1966 graduate of State College Area High School, Randy was first employed by Pearce Milk Company, then later, for most of his working life, as a Processing Technician at Chemcut Corporation. He earned an Associate Degree at Penn State that enhanced his work at Chemcut. He was skilled at fabrication, modification, chemical processing and troubleshooting their entire equipment line. Randy was technically gifted. Often, he traveled outside the U.S. for Chemcut to assist customers, and he co-held a patent derived from his technical work.

Randy enjoyed spending time at the family cabin plus outdoor activities with friends including golf and adult softball league. If you needed a joke, Randy was your guy; he could always spark a good laugh. It was on the softball field that an errant ground ball tore the skin of his forehead leading to the legendary, on-the-spot, pick-up truck "tailgate surgery" by an opposing player who happened to be a facial surgeon.

Family and friends will be received at Koch Funeral Home, South Atherton Street, State College on September 24th, 5:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will start at 7:00 p.m., a time for sharing stories and fond memories.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be considered for VFW Post 5825, at PO Box 171, Pine Grove Mills, PA 16868.

I will miss you dearly Dad. You were the best! You always had a sense of humor and looked on the bright side. I hope you are standing tall and forming a softball team and golfing in heaven.
