Randall "Randy" Payton, 71, of California, Missouri passed away peacefully with family by his side on October 13, 2025, at Caring Hearts and Hands of Columbia.
Mr. Payton was born on August 3, 1954, in Jackson County, Missouri, a son of the late Willard and Clara (Kinsch) Payton. On January 21, 1982, he married Cheryl Ann Waterstradt in Amarillo, Texas, and they were married for 43 years. Randy served his country in the U. S, Army attaining the rank of Sgt.E4.
He enjoyed watching drag racing and enjoyed the drag strip at Firebird Motorsports Park in Flagstaff AZ. He talked a lot about old cars and trucks. His favorite car was a 57 Corvette that he owned when he was young. He enjoyed talking about his Dad and Mom. He enjoyed seeing pictures of deer on the deer cameras. Randy loved fishing and looking at bass boats. He talked a lot about the Chiefs team. He watched the Chiefs win the night before he passed away – that meant a lot to him. He enjoyed watching Grady's videos of his basketball games. His favorite thing was seeing clips and games of Gradys basketball. He asked every day about it.
A man that cared for his family through good and bad and made sure that they were well provided for no matter what he had to sacrifice for his own good. He lived for his family. He was loved by his family as a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
