Adah Marjorie Payton, 86, of Anderson, passed away on October 5, 2025, at her home surrounded by family. She was born on November 16, 1938, in Moonsville, Indiana. Adah graduated from Anderson High School. She had been a cook for Anderson Community Schools and Harter House, a team leader for One Call in Fishers, and lastly worked at Miller Huggins. She loved going to the Smoky Mountains and collecting Black Bears. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and cook. Adah is survived by her children, William "Bill" Payton, Jr., Jeffrey (Debra) Payton, Joe (Michelle) Payton, Tracy (Zina Poole) Payton, Brenda (Rob Jones) Payton, and Tina (Donnovan) Beckett; grandchildren, Jeffery (Desi) Payton, Jr., Tasha Payton, Chad (Kim) Coburn, Terri (Gary) Payton, Nic (Ashley Brown) Carlin, Justin (Ally) Payton, Josh Payton, Taylor Payton, Tyler (Kaylee) Payton, Dylan Jones, Austin Jones, Seth Payton, Hailey Beckett, Payton Beckett, great-grandchildren, Jadin, Trinity and Charity and Wyatt Payton, Adessa, LeLe, and Aceton Oliphant, Ryleah and Carter Carlin, Jaelen, Natalie, and Jackson Brown, Cash and Hazel Coburn,; great-great-grandchildren, Weslynn and Waylon Fogel, and Sophia Marie Ulmer; niece and nephew, Kenny and Judy Stone, great-nieces and nephews, Jason and Lisa Stone, Amanda and Brent Jensen, great-great-nieces and nephew, Logan Stone, Jasper Jensen and Jacey Jensen. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Donald Payton, Sr., father, Herman Joseph DeWitt, mother, Beulah Mae DeWitt, brother, Harold (Zella) DeWitt; sister, Irene (Walter) Garland; and grandson, Trey Payton. Visitation will be held Friday, October 10, 2025, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd St., Anderson, IN. Services will be on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 12:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Morrisett officiating. Burial will take place in the Grovelawn Cemetery, Pendleton. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Animal Protection League. www.LooseCares.com.
