Randolph Lynwood Strode aka Peany, born on the 23rd of June in 1955 to Randolph Strode, Sr. and Jonnie Mae Whitting in Bridgeport, Connecticut and transitioned on Monday, January 8, 2024.
Randolph, the oldest of 3 children, graduated from Warren Harding High School in 1973. He started his employment journey with AVCO Company and worked for city officials doing eviction jobs all around the state of Connecticut, but his passion was being an employee of The Home Depot to which he retired from after over 30 years of service.
Randolph enjoyed many activities, he had a passion for basketball, playing his lotto numbers, singing, and fashion. In his younger years he along with his close friends Steve Smith, Patrick Williams, Eddie Williams, Anthony Gilliam, and Matt Jones formed a singing group called Defiance. On the basketball court, he was unstoppable and when it came to fashion he was always so sharp. It was all about the suit, hats, and shoes. Anytime he stepped out he looked his best. He gained his love for lotto from his grandfather and made sure his numbers were in for the day and night.
Randolph was a member of the Mount Aery Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend Dr. Anthony Bennett and served in an intricate role in their men's substance abuse program as a mentor. He often referred to this program as the Brotherhood. His honor to God was to help whomever he could the way God gave it to him. He was determined to be a source of strength and information not only to the "Brotherhood" but at his second home working with employees and customers of The Home Depot. For over 30 years he was a dedicated, punctual and knowledgeable employee. No matter what aisle you found him in, he was determined to answer any questions or find the help you needed. Many people came in asking specifically for him. He was Mr. Home Depot. He was a hard worker and his demeanor of kindness and spirit of help afforded him to create lasting friends and relationships with many people.
Predeceased by his mother Jonnie Mae Whitting, father Randolph Strode Sr, grandparents Carrie Mae Hunter and John O Hunter, and his aunt Rosa Ella Saname.
Left to cherish his memory is Randolph's drive in life-his one and only daughter Shabhon Monet and grandson Jah'Sheim. He is also survived by his only sisters Jacqueline Dennis (Darryl) and Antoinette Wade (Herman), Nieces Nicole Green (Derrick), Tia Means and Danielle Morgan (Courtney). Nephews Sean Strode and Brian Strode (Conresea), Aunts Susan Long (Robert), and Christine Parks (Roger), a host of great nieces, great nephews, relatives, and friends, all of whom he loved dearly.
