Randy Marvin Howells

Its with deep sorrow that our family says goodbye to Randy Howells. He left this world peacefully on September 25, 2025, surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Born on April 5, 1955, in Twin Falls, Idaho, Randy was the son of Ted M. Howells and Dolores M. Howells (Williams). As the child of an Air Force Master Sergeant, Randy spent his formative years traveling and living around the world, a journey that shaped his gift for forming lasting friendships wherever he went.

Randy was a man of many talents and passions. A gifted artist, he could capture a scene in ink or charcoal in beautiful detail. As a carpenter, he built additions to his homes and crafted barns for the horses he cherished. He was a self-taught musician who picked up the guitar at age 11 and carried the love of music with him throughout his life. He was a poet and storyteller giving beautiful prose to life's everyday moments. But above all he was a skilled horseman, trainer and teacher at Howells Ranch. His deep connection with horses was evident in the trust and affection they returned to him. He was a beloved 'cowboy grandpa' to his three grandsons and embodied that roll wholeheartedly. Randy's kindness, humor, and gentle spirit were qualities that endeared him to all who knew him.

He is survived by his mother, Dolores Williams; his sister, Vickie McGinnis; his stepdaughter, Ashley Klein; his partner, Pam Wheeler; as well as grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends who will miss him profoundly.

An open-house style celebration of Randy's life will be held at Bi-Mart Arena in Cheney, WA, on Saturday, November 22nd, from 10am-2pm. Here, loved ones will gather to honor his memory and share stories of the incredible man he was. Please come as you are in casual wear, jeans and cowboy boots are just right.
