Randy A. Merrell, 62, of Carter Rd., Canastota, passed away on Friday morning, January 24, 2025, at the Wynn Hospital Emergency Room after being stricken at home.
He was born on September 28, 1962, in Canastota, the son of Willard E. and Patricia A. (McCarthy) Merrell. He was a 1981 graduate of Canastota High School.
On November 3, 1995, Randy was united in marriage to Deborah A. Poupore in Canastota.
Randy worked in sales for most of his life. He mostly recently worked as a salesman for Mattress Express in Oneida retiring in 2024 and previously worked for B and B Lumber.
Randy was of the Catholic faith. He was an avid snowmobiler, enjoyed four-wheeling and tinkering with his tractors. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandkids who affectionately called him, "Bop".
Surviving besides his loving wife, Deborah; are his three sons, Mark A. (Andrea) Merrell, of Oneida, Michael J. Merrell, of Canastota, and Brett E. Merrell (fiancé, Karen Broniszewski), of Canastota; five grandchildren, Abrielle Chesebro, Jett Merrell, Eliana Merrell, Jovi Merrell, Evelyn Merrell, and a granddaughter on the way; two brothers, Terry M. (Susan) Merrell, of Canastota, Todd (Tracey) Merrell, of Oneida; a sister, Shelly (John) Albanese, of Idaho; his mother-in-law, Mary Poupore, Verona Beach; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There are no public calling hours. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Randy, please visit our Tree Store.
