Randy Quastad Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Henry-Olson Funeral Home and Crematory - Estherville on Dec. 22, 2024.
Randy Jon Quastad was born on January 26, 1961, in Estherville, Iowa. He departed this life on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at his home in rural Estherville, at the age of 63.
He received his education and graduated from Lincoln Central High School in 1979.
On July 23, 1982, he married Barbara Schacherer. Together, they raised two children, Jason and Tara, during their 14 years of marriage, until Barb's passing on July 23, 1996.
Randy was an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as the best story teller. That's why his fish were always the biggest and his deer never got away.
Beyond being an outdoorsman, Randy cherished the times he could share his pastimes with his family and friends. Any opportunity he had to pass on his version of wisdom, he would gladly do so with a special Randy twist.
Besides his trophy walleye, elk and pelts on his walls, Randy's most valued trophies were Jason and Tara. He instilled his hard work ethic, character and ability to "just figure it out," within them and was brought to tears whenever he would brag about them to anyone who was forced to listen!
Randy's entire life was fulfilled the day his grandson, Thayne, was born. His smile was never as big as it was when he was with his little fishing buddy! Playing for hours past nap time, building the tallest block towers, riding Papa's tractor and his big kid 4-wheeler created a lifetime worth of memories and laughs.
There's not a single friend of Randy's that doesn't have a "Randy story" that will bring you to tears with laughter. Mostly exaggerated, but with a glint of truth, he would take you through an entire adventure as if you were right there with him!
Life wasn't always fun and games, even if that's how Randy will be remembered. He worked tirelessly as a farmer-fixing machinery, feeding livestock, building grain bins, and taking immense pride in his fieldwork.
Randy's legacy lives on in our fishing boats, deer stands, snowmobile trips, and coolers of cold ones-but most importantly, in our hearts. Forever and always.
Left to cherish Randy's life and memory are his children, Jason Quastad (Marge Pummer) and Tara (Aaron) Smit and their son, Thayne.
