OBITUARY:
Randy Scott Sheldon, son of Robert King and Delores Ann (Parkison) Sheldon, was born on July 14, 1952, in Nebraska City, Nebraska. He unexpectedly entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 5, 2025, while back home visiting on the family farm near Percival, Iowa, at the age of 72 years, 5 months, 22 days.
His early life was spent growing up on the family farm near Percival, Iowa. He attended elementary school in the Percival Community School District through the 6th grade. He then attended middle school and high school in the Sidney Community School District, graduating from Sidney High School with the Class of 1970. Following high school, Randy attended Iowa State University studying to be a Park Ranger.
On September 2, 1977, Randy was united in marriage to Sandra Sue Reeves in Las Vegas, Nevada. Following their marriage they resided in Sidney. To this union two daughters, Erin and Andrea were born.
That same year in 1977, Randy bought the bar in Sidney on the west side of the Square which he aptly named Randy's Town and Country Bar & Grill. He was one month shy of owning the bar 26 years when he sold it in 2003. In 1993, he also started a second career, working for the United States Postal Service working as postal clerk at the Hamburg Post Office.
In 2003, Randy and Sandy moved to Heber Springs, Arkansas, where they enjoyed living close to Greers Ferry Lake. Randy transferred to the Heber Springs Post Office that same year, where he worked until retiring in 2019 after 26 years with the United States Postal Service.
When not working, Randy could be found on either the lake or golf course in most instances. He greatly enjoyed boating and golfing as well as reading and traveling to different places. Most of all, he enjoyed visiting with his two daughters,
grandchildren, and being with friends and family. He also loved playing cards, following the Iowa Hawkeyes (even though attending Iowa State!), the Kansas City Chiefs, music, his beloved dogs, walking on the beach, sunsets, lakes and the ocean. He also enjoyed learning new things like scuba diving and flying (although he never attained his pilot's license, he flew solo).
Preceding Randy in death were his father, Bob; brother, Ronnie; grandparents, Ernest and Grace Sheldon and Quentin and Ada Parkison; and two nephews. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 48 years, Sandy Sheldon of Heber Springs, AR; two daughters, Erin Sheldon and Wade Brumbaugh of Sidney, IA, and Andrea Sheldon of Percival, IA; four grandchildren, Gavin Driskell of Hamburg, IA, Presley Brumbaugh of Lexington, NE, Faith Brumbaugh of Red Oak, IA, and Eve Brumbaugh of Waterloo, IA; great grandson, Knox Driskell of Hamburg, IA; mother, Delores Sheldon of Percival, IA; two brothers, Roger Sheldon and wife Debbie of Sidney, IA and Rick Sheldon and wife Kathi of San Antonio, TX; common-law sister-in-law, Cindy Bebout of Sidney, IA; along with many nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
