Joseph "Randy" Randal Still passed away on June 23, 2025 in Sugar Land, Texas. He was born on December 30, 1955, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Randy graduated from Refugio High School, class of 1974. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics with a minor in Math from Texas State University (formerly known as Southwest Texas University), class of 1979. Randy was an accomplished pianist in high school. He played the saxophone in both high school and college, performing in the Refugio High School and Texas State University marching bands. Randy remained a huge fan of the Refugio High School Bobcats football team and followed them every season, watching the games online. His favorite color was orange, which is also one of the Refugio school colors.
Randy had a long career in oil and gas, beginning at Welex as a logging engineer and later working as an engineering technician for Gulf Oil / Chevron, Unocal, Santa Fe Energy / Devon Energy, TPIC, and W&T Offshore.
Randy was an involved and supportive baseball dad, coaching Little League at times and always cheering from the sidelines as his sons played throughout their childhood. He was the youth basketball coach for one of Cody's teams and a Webelos scout leader for Brandon's Cub Scout pack.
Randy was a lifelong fan of superheroes and science fiction, especially Batman and Superman. He loved Star Trek and was a devoted Star Wars fan from the moment he saw the original film in theaters. Randy's enthusiasm for comic book movies and sci-fi stories stayed with him throughout his life.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, William Stanley and Laveta Marie Still. He is survived by his wife, Debra Gaye Still of Sugar Land, Texas; sons, Cody Douglas Still and wife Shelley Elaine, and their daughter, Rylee Jane Still, of Missouri City, Texas, and Brandon Christopher Still of Sugar Land, Texas; sister-in-law, Stephanie Elaine and husband Daniel Jon Radin, and their two sons, Todd Alan Radin and Evan Jon Radin of Austin, Texas; and numerous other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3rd at Morton Cemetery, 401 N. 2nd St., Richmond, Texas 77469. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Randy Still, please visit our Tree Store.
