Rashida Smith, affectionately known as "Rah Rah" was born on June 20, 1977 in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the loving parents of David West and Bonny Smith.
Rashida graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and pursued a higher education at Southern University where she obtained her degree in Psychology.
Rashida was a surrogate mother to many children during her life on this Earth. Whenever you saw her, she had someone's child in her care.
She was well loved by everyone she met. "Rah Rah" was the life of the party, when she walked in the room, she demanded attention and "Got It", her unique style reflected her personality.
Rashida was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend.
Her journey was a central pillar of her life. She came to know Christ at an early age. Rashida was a member of Bright Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Patrick Dennis for years and later became a member of Word of God Ministries under Pastor James McMenis. She found joy in visiting other churches and had an unwavering love for God.
She was preceded in death by her father, David West; brother, Christopher Smith; maternal and paternal grandparents; and a host of aunts and uncles who will greet her at Heaven's door.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her mother, Bonny Smith; 3 brothers: Jon Smith, Anthony Gaines, and David Gaines; 5 sisters: Surfonda Harris (Kerry), Sandy West, Sharetta Kirksey, Tiny Kirksey, and Constance Tinsley; 1 son, David Ashley, III (Trey); 1 Godson, Korbyn Moore; 2 Goddaughters, Keeghan Moore and Riyan Dunn; 1 grandson, Dakari Ashley (Coco Baby); 8 aunts, Jessie (Billy), Earline, Bobbie, Jeanette, Cheryl, Maxine, Alice, and Sandra; 4 uncles; Vertice (Lindia), James, Keith, and Leon; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and many many friends.
