Larry Thomas

Larry Thomas, age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Willis-Knighton Pierremont Hospital. He was born on May 10, 1938, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Willie and Martha Thomas.

Larry graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of Saint James Methodist Church in Shreveport, where he faithfully served for many years. He truly loved the Lord and lived his life as a reflection of his faith.

Larry was employed with Martin Specialty Coating, where he began his painting career. Over the years, he took great pride in his work, painting several well-known establishments, including the Municipal Auditorium, LSU Hospital, and the AT&T; Building. His craftsmanship and dedication can still be seen throughout the city of Shreveport.

In 1959, Larry moved to Seattle, Washington, where he continued his painting career and worked on several major projects, including the Seattle Library, Seattle Air Force Base, and Seattle Hospital. In the late 1970s, he returned to his hometown of Shreveport, where he spent the remainder of his years surrounded by family and friends.

He leaves behind memories to be cherished by his three children: Donnie Durant (Gloria) Durant of Seattle, Washington; Rhonda Lewis(Darryl) and Larvago Thomas of Seattle, Washington. Larry is also survived by his brother, Lamar Thomas of Shreveport, Louisiana, and his sister, Virginia Faye Thomas Murphy of Shreveport, Louisiana, as well as one niece, a host of nephews,great nieces, great nephews, grandchildren, other relatives, and countless friends who were blessed to know him.

Larry will be remembered for his kind heart, quiet strength, and unwavering faith in God.
