Ray Anthony Alves was born in Oxnard CA to William and Aileen Alves, both school teachers. The family moved around a lot and finally settled in Hesperia CA. Ray graduated from Apple Valley High School where he played trumpet in the band, and played catcher on the baseball team. Ray graduated from Cal State San Bernardino with a BS in Political Science. Ray's knack for investigations and procedures led him to become a Reserve Officer for Colton Police and then joining the Perris Police Department. Ray was a patrol officer, Range Master, and detective. Ray was injured on the job, and retired from the PD. Not one to stay retired for long, Ray taught traffic school, security training classes, and was a firearms instructor. Ray was a machinist, then worked security at Soboba Casino, and then at Pechanga Casino before retiring again. Ray enjoyed building and running HO model railroad track. Ray was a card carrying western reenactor with "Gunfighters for Hire" out of Pioneer Town and the "Double R Bar "Reenactors (Roy Rogers Museum). Ray was a 32 year member of the Hemet San Jacinto Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. During this active and adventurous life, Ray met and married Michelle, his wife of over 41 years of marriage. Ray was a fierce and loyal friend, and he will be deeply missed.

Ray leaves behind his wife Michelle, his sister Carol Hearn (Michael) and six nieces and nephews, his brother James Alves (Carol), dear friends Ron and Denise Zurn, Ron Simmer, and numerous friends and colleagues.
