Charles Ray Blalock, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, at the age of 93 in Grand Ledge, Michigan. Born on September 17, 1931, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Ray was the son of Aloysius {Jack} and Lorene (Hopkins) Blaylock. In his early years, Ray laid the foundation of a life marked by dedication and hard work. He retired from Fisher Body as a skilled painter after 35 years of service. Ray and Betty moved to Florida for a few years and then returned to Michigan once the grandchildren started arriving. Ray liked to keep busy, so he began working at Feldpausch Grocery Store for an additional 19 years where he was affectionately known as "Mr. Feldpausch". Ray was a long-time member of Maranatha Baptist Church and South Church before joining the congregation of Grand Ledge Baptist Church, where he enjoyed the fellowship of other believers and bible-based preaching of the Word. Ray's passion for life extended to his love for golfing with his good friends Rod Cheyne and Dave Robach. He also loved fishing and camping with his family when his girls were young.
Ray is survived by his wife, Margie Blalock, and his daughters, Christine (Daniel) Murphy and Cindy Blalock. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Steven (Carrie) Murphy, Angela (Jason) Perez, Gwendolyn Murphy, Katherine (Mark) Ryan, Autumn (Matt) Steketee, and Brent Shaw. He also had 12 great-grandchildren, Danielle (Marcus-fiancé) Murphy, Maria Perez, Isabella Perez, Ava Waldron, Isaiah Waldron, Ryleigh Ryan, Braddock Ryan, Laila Ryan, Westland Ryan, Aeden Steketee, Olivia Steketee, and Jaxson Steketee. Ray also leaves behind his brothers, Kenneth (Berniece) Blalock and Bobby (Jackie) Blalock, and one sister, Verna Dell Barton. He is preceded in death by his parents, Aloysius {Jack} Blaylock and Lorene (Harold) Scott, his first wife of 46 years, Betty Blalock {McKimmy}, and his second wife of 14 years, Ruth Garlock, both of whom he held dear in his heart.
A Funeral Service will be held 12:30 pm, Friday, June 20, 2025, at Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel, 301 E. Jefferson St, Grand Ledge, MI 48837 with a visitation one hour prior to the service; interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
