Ray Brown, age 88, of Westerville and formerly of Stoutsville, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Feridean Commons in Westerville. He was born August 5, 1935, in Warfield, KY, the son of Joseph and Mae (Collier) Sloan. His father, Joe passed away at a very early age, and then Ray was raised by his mother and step-father, Russell Brown. He was a member of the Canal Winchester Masonic Lodge. He was retired from the C&O Railroad. Ray loved trains, bluegrass music and time spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughters, Karen Beckley, of Logan, Denise (Richard) Gray, of Westerville, Whitney (Danny) Roahrig, of Lewis Center; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife June (New) Brown; daughter, Nancy Brown; son, Raymond Brown; grandson, Jason Beckley.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Amanda Township Cemetery. The family will receive freinds from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Capital City Hospice, 2800 Corporate Exchange Drive, Suite 170, Columbus, OH 43231.
